The Association of African Cotton Producers (APROCA), is to open a university for the training of cotton producers and other actors in the sub-sector, officials said in April.
The school, to be located at Bobo Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, is expected to begin classes in September, for the training of between 20 and 30 students a year.
APROCA President, Francois Traore of Burkina Faso, was expected to undertake a tour to Benin, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Mali, Senegal, Chad and Togo on the creation of the university, whose idea was mooted at the Paris Agriculture show in 2006.
