Jain Irrigation Systems, a maker of drip and sprinkler irrigation equipment, has received a contract along side Kirloskar Brothers from Ghana to revamp the irrigation system of that country.
The USD 5 million project involves rehabilitation of mini dams in nine command regions, which will increase the area under irrigation by about 60 per cent, company director Atul Jain said.
"We look at Africa as being our biggest overseas revenue contributor in the medium and long term," Jain said.
While Kirloskar Brothers will supply the pumps for the project, Jain Irrigation will set up the complete irrigation system and piping, in addition to training farmers and local irrigation officials on maintenance.
