As in other parts of the world, organic agriculture is growing in the countries of Central/Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union and Central Asia. Over the last two years the growth of the sector in these countries have been the highest among all European countries, although absolute figures are still at low level.
To initiate further development, targeted activities from the private as well as the public sector need to be taken up.
The conference, scheduled for April 10 – 12, 2008 in Kyiv, Ukraine, aims at collecting and presenting experiences, ideas, solutions, recommendations and practical examples on how to develop the organic sector. The agenda of the conference includes policies and action plans, local and export market development as well as exemplary country reports.
