The Ethiopian Ministry of Mines and Energy announced that it is undertaking various activities to enhance the ethanol production in the country to 100 million liters in the coming five years. Minister of Mines and Energy Alemayehu Tegenu said that the plan set to increase ethanol production is being carried out by the Ethiopian Sugar Enterprises Support Agency.
Over eight million liters of ethanol is being blended with benzene at the Sululta mixing depot, the minister said, and added that the efforts being made to expedite the blending activity is vital to advance the culture of using blended petroleum.
The sugar factories in the country are undertaking production of ethanol, he said and added that private investors are also encouraged to engage in the ethanol production activities, which he said is vital to ensure the energy security of the country.
