Mozambique’s first corn harvest of the year may be 5.6 percent larger than last season, Agencia de Informacao de Mocambique reported, citing Deputy National Director of Agricultural Services Marcelo Chaquisse.
The southern African nation may produce 1.9 million metric tons, compared with 1.8 million tons in 2008, the Maputo-based news agency said.
Mozambique harvests corn twice a year, between December and April, and then again between May and September, AIM said.
